LNAT Course
The LNAT is a vital part of applying for law at many UK universities. A mixture of critical thinking and persuasion skills, it provides an opportunity for applicants to show that they have 'what it takes' to thrive in Law at a top University - but it is likely to be very different to anything students have experienced before. Our booster LNAT preparation course aims to demystify the LNAT test, equip students with essential strategies to achieve top marks, and most importantly, furnish them with the skills necessary for success in their Law applications.
What to Expect from the LNAT Preparation Course
In these classes, we’ll cover all the types of questions that come up in the LNAT, focussing on particularly hard questions and the methods we can use to solve them. By the end of these four sessions, you will have a comprehensive toolkit that should enable you to go out and ace the LNAT.
This is crucial as Oxford and Cambridge University in particular use the LNAT as a big filter when deciding who to invite to interview. The LNAT is also a crucial component of entry for Law applicants to top Russell Group Universities.
Our Host: Double First Cambridge Law Graduate
Sylvie graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in Law (Double First Class) in 2018. She then completed a PhD in Law at the European University Institute in Italy, with a stay as a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley. She since qualified for the Bar. She has worked with U2 and Minds Underground to support Law applicants for several years now, with a fantastic track record of success. She particularly enjoys tutoring for the LNAT as it involves not only critical thinking skills, but also the opportunity to discuss hot topics and encourage students to develop their argumentation - something any prospective lawyer is likely to enjoy!

LNAT Course Components
Session 1: Introduction to top Strategies for LNAT Success e.g. Looking at the Watson Glaser Framework
This session will aim to break down and demystify the LNAT: how is it used and what strategies can students implement to reach the highest marks? This will include discussing the key skills it is designed to test, and an introduction to its foundational Watson Glaser framework. The goal of this will be to answer any preliminary questions that students may have, and warm up into the type of critical thinking that the test requires - laying the groundwork for the rest of the course.
Session 2: Strategies for Tackling the Multiple Choice Question
This session will focus on Part A of the LNAT: the multiple choice question. This may well be unlike anything students have experienced before, even if they have studied Law at A-Level. Building on the Watson Glaser work of Session 1, it will therefore introduce and break down some past questions before giving students the chance to work through some examples themselves - getting a feel for the test and support with areas they identify as challenging.
Session 3: Strategies for Approaching the LNAT Essay
The second part of the LNAT is an essay - an early chance for any prospective lawyer to show their persuasive skills. This session will focus on the substance of these essays: what might they ask about, how should this be addressed, and how to prepare for the unknown. Collective brainstorming of ideas will help students develop their critical thinking skills, but also identify the types of issues and themes that can commonly be used to answer these questions.
Session 4: Strategies for Approaching the LNAT Essay - Structure
There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to LNAT essays, and structure can really help a candidate stand out. This session will explore some different possibilities and tackle how best to frame an answer. It will also identify the key elements of any law essay - and in particular, how these may differ from essays that students have written before. This will help students avoid common pitfalls and stand them in the best possible stead moving forward.
