Case Study: How Minds Underground helped John to obtain an offer for Economics & Management at the University of Oxford

John was looking for a subject-specific work experience placement that could demonstrate his passion and motivation to study Economics. He was wary about the standard Banking internship route, as it can be frowned upon by some academic professors!
MU organised John a research project with a Professional Economist at the Institute of Fiscal Studies, Britain’s leading microeconomic research institute. This was a 3 month project, in which John explored the impact of disruptive technologies: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), and Cryptocurrencies, on the global economy, engaging in rigorous research and analysis in the style of the IFS.
In addition, John took a number of 1-1 masterclasses with Graduates of the Economics & Management Course. These mimicked the tutorial style of teaching at Oxford, as well as the type of discussion that typically takes place in entrance interviews.
